Consumers set up a blockbuster holiday season at the Box Office
RESTON, VA, November 18, 2014 – Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its monthly Comscore qSearch™ analysis of the U.S. desktop search marketplace. Google Sites led the explicit core search market in October with 67 percent of search queries conducted.
U.S. Explicit Core SearchGoogle Sites led the U.S. explicit core search market in October with 67 percent market share, followed by Microsoft Sites with 19.5 percent (up 0.1 percentage points) and Yahoo Sites with 10.3 percent (up 0.3 percentage points). Ask Network accounted for 1.9 percent of explicit core searches, followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.2 percent.
*“Explicit Core Search” excludes contextually driven searches that do not reflect specific user intent to interact with the search results.
18.8 billion explicit core searches were conducted in October, with Google Sites ranking first with 12.6 billion (up 5 percent). Microsoft Sites ranked second with 3.7 billion searches (up 6 percent), followed by Yahoo Sites with 1.9 billion (up 8 percent), Ask Network with 366 million (up 2 percent) and AOL, Inc. with 235 million (up 2 percent).
“Powered By” ReportingIn October, 68.3 percent of searches carried organic search results from Google, while 28.0 percent of searches were powered by Bing (up 0.5 percentage points).
