London, UK, 2 April, 2015 – Comscore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its monthly report on the state of the digital landscape in the UK, based on data from the Comscore MMX, MMX Multi-Platform, Mobile Metrix and Video Metrix services. More than 47.6 million UK unique visitors accessed the Internet in February 2015 across desktop and mobile (smartphone and tablet) platforms. 44.7 million visitors the Internet via their desktops while 35.9 million users browsed the web via their mobile devices. According to Comscore MMX Multi-Platform, which provides an unduplicated view of usage across desktop, smartphone and tablet, Google Sites ranked as the top property with 45.7 million combined desktop and mobile internet users? The majority of Google Sites’ audience visited from both desktop and mobile platforms (63 percent), while 29% visited exclusively from desktop and 8% were mobile only users. Facebook was the second most popular online property with a multi-platform audience of 39.6 million, 28 percent of which visited only via mobile devices.
Interestingly, the News/Information properties featured in the Top 20 list -- BBC, Mail Online, and Trinity Mirror -- drew a substantially higher percentage of their audiences via mobile-only than desktop-only, signifying a massive shift in how audiences are predominantly accessing news content.
