Wave Of German Visitors Boosts Traffic to Online Retail and Ecommerce Sites in August
eBay Overtakes Microsoft Sites to Become Germany’s Second Largest Property
LONDON, UK, OCTOBER 1ST, 2007 – Comscore (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its report on the top Internet properties and top gaining properties in Germany for August, based on data collected through the Comscore World Metrix audience measurement service.
Google was the most visited property in Germany with 23.1 million unique visitors age 15 or older, reaching 70.2 percent of the total German Internet audience. Google was followed by eBay, which overtook Microsoft Sites to become the second most visited property from within Germany. eBay served 17.4 million unique visitors, just ahead of Microsoft Sites with 17.2 million.
A retail site, Karstadt-Quelle, was the fastest growing of the Top 10 German properties. German traffic to the site has been growing consistently since the start of the year and was boosted even further in August by a number of price reductions across its product range. The number of unique visitors to Karstadt-Quelle grew to 12.0 million - up 3.9 percent on the previous month.

Shopping search specialist, supabillig.com, was the fastest growing property in Germany, with traffic increasing by 60.2 percent to 2.1 million unique visitors. The site was joined in its success by Geizkragen Sites, an online price comparison site that grew by 15.9 percent to reach 2.2 million unique visitors in August.
Community sites also experienced strong growth in Germany. Personal publishing platform, WordPress, enjoyed a 28.4 percent increase, to reach 2.1 million unique visitors. Uploaded.to, a free file hosting site for everything from images to music and videos grew 19.9 percent to 1.9 million. GoNamic GmbH, a site providing blogging and information downloading services, grew 16.4 percent to reach 2.9 million.
