Consumers set up a blockbuster holiday season at the Box Office
Denmark is leading the Nordic countries with 700,000 internet users accessing retail movies sites during the month, a year-to-year increase of 94 percent. In second place is Sweden which had 478,000 internet users visiting a retail movies site (up 148 percent) in June 2013. Besides being the smaller markets in terms of unique visitors, Norway and Finland have achieved incredible audience growth in this category with a year to year increase of 981 percent and 271 percent respectively, which has reduced their gap with Sweden.
Without a doubt, the launch of Netflix in the Nordics countries this year has had a big impact on this trend. In June 2013, Netflix reached 1.5 million internet users in the Nordics, a 4-digit growth, representing a 9-percent reach compared to June 2012.
